Oxford Playmaker delivers workshops in primary and secondary schools in Oxfordshire.
In affiliation with Oxford Playhouse we offer a range of exciting opportunities for young people who are keen to write and create their own plays for production.
We offer Primary Schools a series of 10 workshops which take place at school and culminate in a professional performance of their work at Oxford Playhouse.
TESTIMONIAL FROM TEACHER AT ST JOHN FISHER PRIMARY SCHOOL
‘ It was great to see how proud the children were of their own and their peers’ work, being performed on stage at the theatre. Renata was excellent at getting the children engaged from the start. She made the games exciting and original and let the children lead quite a bit which gave them ownership.’
‘It was obvious after the first couple of sessions that the children were developing self confidence. They felt freer to take part and be more expressive. Academically they developed language – especially through the stage direction element of play script writing.’
We offer secondary schools after school playwriting courses to be held at school or at the Oxford Playhouse once every week in the evening.
In addition to the playwriting courses we are also offering a special invitation to secondary schools to create their own adaptation of a Shakespeare play. The process of editing, directing, designing and performing will be supported by a series of workshops by theatre professionals leading towards a unique edited production tailor- made to your particular school and students.
